Just as lovely as the pictures, this heart is quite spectacular. It is finely hand engraved with vines, leaves, ferns and engraving details typical of this period. Both sides are engraved, with one bearing a central section awaiting initials. It is large, measuring 1 3/8 with the bale, x 1 1/8 across. It has a depth of 3/8ths. Within the fine details of the engraving is found a hallmark for Birmingham, 15k and the date letter for 1904. It has a rich, original gold patina. It opens and closes securely. The interior has a scratch, as seen. It is surface only, and not visible on the outside. The heart has been carefully matched with an 18k slide chain. This chain is quite beautiful, having the same patina as the heart. The chain is circa 1840 and has a detailed, repousse slide which perfectly complements the heart. The chain is long, measuring 58 inches and can be doubled around the neck. The chain can also be worn joined together and worn with the slide in front. It terminates with a swivel clasp which can be used for other pendants and lockets. The chain is 1/16 inches wide. It is in excellent original condition. Simple, timeless, and rare. Perfect for giving, or for keeping. |
