These antique paste earrings are Victorian, circa 1860-1880. Originally cuff buttons, they have been expertly converted to earrings with the addition of yellow gold ear wires. While I have had several early versions of paste earrings, these are large,and a very beautiful example. The pastes are foil back and set in silver rub over settings. The backs are gracefully curved so they look pretty from the side angle too. They measure a bold 1/2 inch round x 6/8 down. Excellent condition. The tiny mark on the reverse center is where the attachment had been for the cuff button. Easy to wear and beautiful. English, circa 1860-1880. |
