These Victorian cut steel earrings are circa 1860. They are designed with cut steel beads that have been faceted and polished creating a distinctive, lovely, silver gray hue that reflects light with every movement. Each piece is riveted to a brass back plate, a very time consuming, laborious effort. It has three articulating sections, all well proportioned to hang gracefully from the ear. They measure slightly less than 2 inches from the top of the wire x 7/8 across the widest section. Condition is excellent. One early reinforcement of a small dangle, well done and visible only on the back. English, circa 1860 |
