This antique 14k heart locket is circa 1900. Designed in a Neo-Classical revival style it has beautiful gold work that is simple and elegant. The gold is finely reeded and elegantly decorated with applied gold X's. The locket unscrews at the top, and the two beveled glass inserts are then free to insert house a photo if desired. Personally, I prefer it clear and used just as seen.
The heart measures 1 3/4 inches long with the bale and and 1 inch across and slightly over 1 inch long without the bale. It has been joined with a black cord with a 14k clasp. The simplicity of design and the beautiful, rich patina distinguishes this lovely heart. Gift it to a loved one or enjoy it yourself. Condition is excellent. Circa 1900 |
