This Victorian bracelet is quite rare in form. Designed as a realistic cuff replete with buttons, it is rendered in sterling. The bracelet has fine engraving executed with unusual restraint. It embodies all the elements of superior design, and has a decidedly sculptural quality. It measures a very bold 2 inches down in the front, tapering to 1 1/4 inches down in the back. It opens and closes with a secure, concealed push clasp. The bracelet will accommodate a smaller wrist, as the opening is slightly more confined than most of this type. There are several small dings commensurate with age/use. Condition overall is good to excellent. This is among the rarest form to find in this period, as they were considered whimsical artistic expressions during the very formal Victorian years. Lovely, unique and Victorian, circa 1880 |
