The French octagonal locket is 18k designed in the Neo-Classical Revival style. This simple clean shape is embellished by reeded gold on the perimeter and centered with X design on all eight sides. The locket contains two faceted rock crystals. With a twist of the bezel the crystals are free to accept a photo or lock of hair if desired. I personally love it worn as shown. The locket measures 1 1/8 inches across and 1 5/8 long with the bale.

The chain is 14k and marked on the interior of the bale. It is most likely American in origin. It has a rich 18k patina and is perfectly matched in color with the 18k locket. The condition and patina of both the locket and chain are excellent. The chain slips easily over the head, and can be adjusted by the slide if necessary. The slide can be worn at the neck or at any other desired length. It is simple enough in design to wear alone or in combination with other chains. Simply elegant, Victorian,circa 1900.
