French Diamond Earrings 18th Century
These earrings are circa 1800 simply designed with early mine cut diamonds set in crimped rub over collets. The ear wires are a lovely pale rose gold and the rest of the earring is set in silver. The top section is a small flower head set with tiny diamonds in the petals and centered with a small diamond. Typical of the period, the diamonds have a gray hue reflecting hints of gold as they were set with foil behind each stone. This was done to reflect light as stones were set closed in the back during this period.

Easy to wear they are day/night. This means the top portion could be worn alone during the day, or with the added drop section for evening wear. Small in scale, they measure 1 3/8 from the top of the gold wire x slightly less than 1/2 inches across the bottom drop. The gold ear wires have a French poincon, a guarantee of gold. They fasten back to front as seen in the photos. So very perfect in scale not to overwhelm a diamond necklace or brooch. They are all original and in excellent condition. French circa,1800
