| This antique Victorian Scottish bracelet is circa 1860. My love of Scottish jewelry is evident. Perhaps it is because the value is in the design and craftsmanship, rather than in the materials. Here is one of the finest examples of this art form. It has a large, bold central element designed as a flower head, centered with a faceted amethyst. The colors of the agates are in total contrast with the amethyst, making it quite striking. The agates themselves have the full range of color indigenous to Scotland. The skill of the lapidary who chose and cut the stones as well as the engraver are evident in the photos. The condition is mint, and I rarely use the term. It is as if this bracelet was boxed and its beauty safely guarded. It measures 7 inches long. The central section measures a very bold 1 7/8 inches down x 1 1/2 inches across. It is also curved to fit the wrist. The joining bands graduate in size and are as skillfully engraved as the center. It carries the beauty and warmth of the Scottish people. Circa 1860 | ||||||||
