These especially beautiful antique French aquamarine and diamond earrings, are circa 1900. The 18k gold work is superior as expected of French jewelers, with a patina that is rich and original. The faceted aquamarines are a mellow sea blue and the diamonds very white with an old European cut. There are a total of 4 carats (2 each earring) of aqua and 1.30 carats of bright white diamonds. The earrings are completely original including the back to front ear wires. The ear wires have the French poincon for 18k, an eagle's head. They are a standout in their size, measuring almost an inch long from the top of the wire x 5/8 across. They are more unusual, as few from this period are set in aqua/diamonds, and fewer still with this dramatic size. Elegant and beautiful in design and rendering. French, circa 1900 |
