Lovely antique Georgian garnet and topaz ring, circa 1830. The ring has alternating stones all set in 15k gold with decorative collets of tiny gold "cannonball" accents typical of this period. The use of topaz, a precious stone, alternating with garnet is quite a beautiful combination. The stones are faceted and in very good condition. The shank is lovely too, and has a decorative scroll and leaf motif terminating with a smooth back. The ring measures a US 8 and has evidence,of prior sizing. It can be resized. The gold work is finely done, and the ring retains the original rich patina. A pretty example of a Georgian period ring. England, circa 1830 |
