This ring is Georgian, circa 1830. Designed as a token of love, this eternity ring symbolizes an unbroken circle where there is no beginning or end. It has semi-precious stones well chosen for color that were faceted and then foiled behind the stone. This was done to enhance the light as most gem stones were closed to the light in the back. This foiling created that beautiful, mellow hue that is so characteristic of Georgian jewelry. The gold is well rendered in 9k with two graceful "arms" connecting each stone. It is a size 7 US and cannot be sized. It is easily worn on any finger as was the custom during the Georgian period. The condition is excellent, with some edge wear to the facets commensurate with age and seen only under magnification. It is one of the more unusual eternity rings I have seen from this period. Love passed through the centuries....how wonderful. England, circa 1830 |
