This very beautiful diamond earring and ring set is European, circa 1890. It is a marvelous design of a cluster earring set with European cut diamonds in the form of a flowerhead. Each earring unscrews and can be fitted on to the ring. This cleverly enables the wearer to have the versatility of two items of jewelry. The diamonds are old European cut that have tremendous sparkle. The color is white, GH and the clarity S1. The central diamond is 1/2 carat and is bezel set. The surrounding diamonds are prong set and are approximately, 1/16 carat. The approximate weight of each earring is one carat, making the total weight approximately 2 carats. The earring cluster measures 1/2 inch and with the wire are 5/8 long. The lever backs are secure and in excellent condition. The earrings are set in 14k gold and silver , which is correct for the time period. This pre-dates the use of platinum, as silver was the choice to best enhance the color of the diamonds. The ring is set in 14k gold, unmarked and tested and is a size 6 US. The set comes with the original leather, satin lined fitted box. They are all original,the condition is excellent, and the quality suburb. This is the first set with this design I have had the pleasure of selling. Unique and elegant, for day or evening, circa 1890. |
