This brooch represents the highest quality of Scottish agate jewelry. Rendered in 9k gold, it is designed as a raised flower centered with a large faceted cairngorm. The gold has a rose hue and is finely hand engraved. The choice of agates is superb, as one color melds to the next. Subtle and beautiful the brooch is in all original, excellent condition. The reverse has all original mounts with an added loop to accommodate a safety chain if desired. The back has tiny pin points, but it too is in excellent condition. Finding gold Scottish jewelry with a uniqueness in design is rare indeed. This represents one of the finest I have offered. It measures 1 7/8 inches round x a remarkable depth of 3/4 inches. It is this proportion that also distinguishes this brooch. Scottish,circa 1860,rare and beautiful. |
