This example is quite lovely as the surmount has diamonds, rubies and demantoid garnets(not removed and tested). The rose diamonds are set in silver and the colored stones and crystal set in gold. The crystal is finely faceted at the edges, cut flat on the top surface and then set in hand crimped rub over settings. The gold and silver work is superb. The top bail is original, as is the entire heart. It opens from the bottom and closes securely. It measures 1 3/8 long x 1 inch across at its widest point. Excellent condition. So very rare and beautiful, it withstands the passing of centuries and remains a cherished jewel.
