This is a beautifully rendered diamond brooch, circa 1820. It is designed with a central motif of a flower basket composed of beautifully cut sparkling rose diamonds set on a field of blue glass. The color comes alive with a rich blue hue when the light passes through. The rose diamonds are well cut and set in silver typical of the period. The brooch is rose gold and engraved on the reverse. Like a fine painting, the frame completes the beauty. Here it is set on each side with rose diamonds simply to enhance the central motif. It measures 1 1/4 inches across x 5/8 inches down, small and lovely. The reverse has a replaced trombone clasp replacing the original C-clasp, well done and matching the rose gold patina. The condition is excellent and the quality superb. This is a bouguet that lasts for centuries. |
