Lovely antique 15k earrings,English circa 1840. These earrings are set with a round faceted amethyst and a tear shaped aqua drop. Both are vibrant and have beautiful cut down collets. The stones are separated by a gold flower embellished with cannetille. Cannetille is the word used to describe spirals of twisted gold which creates patterns and adds texture. It took a very skilled hand to do this time consuming work. The earrings measure 1 1/8 inches long from the top of the wire x 2/8 wide. They are very feminine and delicate in appearance with a beautiful color play. The gold wires are new. The condition is excellent, and it retains a rich,original patina. |
