The color of the moonstones are shades of blue that vary as the light passes though the stone. The sheen,or play of light is called adularescence. It is that shimmer, that gives moonstones its allure. In India, it is considered holy and magical. Some view it as a lover's stone, safequarding the true joys of love. The stones are clear with minor inclusions upon close scrutiny. Each stone is separated by a hinge which is almost invisible to the eye, but ensures a graceful fit. It has a push clasp, also set with a moonstone, but the stone is set horizontally to quickly identify it from the others. It also retains an additional safety clasp.
