| This antique Scottish agate bracelet is circa 1880. It is a rare form designed with alternating links of agates with those that are engraved. The agate links are set with opposing curved, cabachon agates all inlaid and divided with a thin silver band. The contrasting links are engraved, front and back so that every turn of the bracelet shows the engraving. The agates are well chosen for color and contrast. The bracelet terminates with a working padlock. The padlock too is a work of art, finely engraved centered with an agate front and a locket back. The bracelet measures 8 inches long x 5/8 wide. The links are hollow, typical of the period and quite chunky in size. Quite amazingly contemporary in feel, but circa 1880. It is in excellent condition and quite rare. | |||||||||
