| Incredibly beautiful moonstone and diamond bee brooch,circa 1880. Brooches in figural form were quite popular during this period and this is one of the finest examples I have offered in quite a while. It has the body represented by a large cabachon moonstone, wings studded with beautifully cut rose diamonds and eyes set with cabachon rubies. The moonstone measures 12.5 mm x 7.5 mm. It is gem quality,clear,blue and exhibiting adularescence. The brooch is silver topped gold and the gold work is especially well done. Even the legs are set at the joints with two tiny rose cut diamonds. It measures 1 1/8 inches long x 1 1/8 inches wide. It is completely original including the t-bar and c-clasp. The condition is flawless and the beauty elegant and timeless. | |||||||||
