| Superb example of a Victorian Scottish agate brooch. Designed in the shape of a dirk, it was originally used to adorn the tartans. It is Victorian, circa 1860 and is sterling, and hand engraved. The agates are a very lovely choice of mauves and bloodstone. The top agate is quite a unique choice of color and well chosen to offset the other three agates. The three contrasting stones are faceted crystals which have been foiled back for color and set in silver collets. This dirk is extremely well done both in the choice of color, as well as the high level of silver work. It is completely original, including the mounts, and in excellent condition. It measures a bold 4 inches in length x 1/2 inches at the widest section. Just beautiful worn a blazer, shawl, cape or coat. | |||||||
