| The snake motif and its symbolism for eternal love became popularized after Albert presented a snake ring to Victoria upon their betrothal. This 15k brooch is circa 1860, and has a coiled snake dangling a heart from its mouth. The reverse of the heart reveals a closed locket with plaited hair. The stones are rich cabachon garnets that are foiled back to reflect light. It measures 2 inches across x 1 7/8 down. It is all original including the c-clasp and t-bar. The condition is excellent. | ||||||||
