| This brooch is Scottish,circa 1860. Brooches like these were fashioned to secure the tartans and were finely designed and executed. This particular form is called a Skindhu and was used on the kilts. The agates are rich in color and contrast using jasper,bloodstone and mustard tones. the mounts are sterling with superior hand engraving. The top is a faceted crystal which is foiled back. The brooch measures 3 1/2 inches x 1/2 inches. it is completely original in excellent condition. It looks unique worn on a blazer,hat or shawl. | ||||||
