This unique 18k brooch in the form of a small harp or lyre is quite rare. It has a sculptural quality, hand made and exquisitely finished. The front has finely cut rose diamonds simulating the pins of a harp. There are rubies, sapphires, and emeralds designed with a random, celestial placement on the body of the lyre. The 18k gold has a rich yellow color, and the "strings" a rose colored gold. The reverse is as finely finished as the front. Notice the gentle curve of the lyre and the fine, all original mounts. The harp has always been a popular motif both for its symbolism and graceful form. "By neglect thou ruinest me, or "Je responds a qui me touche"(I reply to him who touches me). This makes a perfect gift of love. It is marked "Depose" a French registry or patent mark for original designs. The pin measures 1 7/8 inches long x 7/8 wide. It is 19th Century, completely original and in excellent condition. |
