| Georgian brooches are timeless in simplicity and elegance. This brooch is circa 1820 and has a flat cut garnet surround with each garnet set in crimped 9k gold and foil back settings. The foiling behind the garnets was used to enhance the color since stones were often closed to the light during this period of design. It gives the garnets a beautiful pinkish purple hue similar to a ruby. The center is a beautiful moss agate with beveled edges. The interplay of color is very beautiful and the condition of the brooch excellent. The reverse has all original mounts. It measures 1 inch across x 7/8 down. This is a lovely item worn alone or with other small Georgian brooches. | ||||||
