Antique Gold Scottish Smoky Quartz Jeweled Heart
Perhaps my favorite form of jewelry is the sentimental heart. This particular example is from my personal collection and I have treasured it for many years. The time has come for someone else to wear and appreciate its rarity and beauty.

This one of a kind 15k heart is Scottish, circa 1860. It is a superlative example of design and execution. It is a symbolic heart, often called, Mary Queen of Scots as it has the heart surmounted with a crown. Mary's tragic life was short, but she remains beloved by her people. The design of the fleur de lis symbolizing the Auld Alliance with France, is symbolic of the loyalty of a Queen, as well as her ties to France, In Scotland she was called Mary Queen of Scots, in France, Mary Stuart.

This heart is large and perfectly proportioned as if it were a sculpture. Measuring, 3 inches from the top loop to the bottom X 1 1 /2 inches wide it makes an elegant statement. The heart is a smokey quartz and the beautiful crown, is accented with small emeralds, rubies and pearls. The details are identical front and back. The condition is excellent with the exception of hairlines in the large pearl gracing the top. It has been this way since I have owned it and I imagine caused by the initial drilling and mounting. The pearls have not been tested, but are are most likely natural considering the age of this heart.

I can promise that there will not be another quite like this, as I have never seen one of this quality. It can be joined with a cord or chain of choice. Scotland, circa 1860
