Charming and rare, these sterling Victorian earrings are circa 1860. The motif is a graceful bird with outstretched wings, and finely engraved wings and body. The ball, or globe is hollow ,and gently articulates as it is suspended from the mouth of the bird. I have had this motif only once before in a pair of gold earrings and was thrilled to find them in sterling. They are completely original including the ear wires and are in excellent condition. They measure 1 inch from the top of the wire and are 1/2 inch across the ball. They are the perfect companion to any Victorian silver jewelry. Scarce to find and light and beautiful on the ear. England, circa 1860 |
