These earrings are English,Georgian circa 1800. Designed in an elegant simple form, they represent the exquisite refinement of the Georgian period. They are set in 15k gold, hand crimped foil back settings and retain the original patina. The gold work is exemplary,smooth and finely rendered. The two part design,known as day/night, enables the wearer the option of removing the bottoms for daily wear and adding them for the evening. They measure 1 5/8 inches long X 3/8 across. They are completely original including the back to front wires. The stones have hints of pale golden yellow and a lovely hue of varying color created by the foil. The stones are cut with a large flat table and perimeter facets. These are so rare to find, especially in this original form and condition. England, circa 1800 |
