Antique Victorian Scottish earrings, circa 1880. They are sterling and set with a central faceted citrine that is prong set and surrounded by small flat cut stones that are bezel set. This lorgnette, is silver designed with the process of Niello. This process was used for centuries, but had renewed interest in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. According to the book Victorian Jewelry by Dawes and Davidov, "niello is a process in which a fusion of silver,copper,lead and sulphur is melted and poured on silver."
