Cut steel earrings in their original form and in excellent condition, are so difficult to find. These are designed with a top cut steel cluster, attached to a faceted steel bale, which connects to a very detailed, beautiful flower. The central flower is surrounded by a circle of cut steel, which not only frames it, but adds an illusion of movement. Each faceted piece of steel is connected to a metal backplate with a rivet. These lovely earrings cleverly designed as a flower head with cascading leaves, are Georgian circa 1830. They were made of faceted,polished steel heads which were then riveted into a metal back plate. This laborious process created a striking pair of earrings that glistened with a distinctive gray hue in the candlelit rooms. They have a classical three section design which freely articulate.

Perhaps my favorite item purchased on my last buying trip to Paris are these earrings. They are designed with cut steel made of tiny pieces of polished, faceted steel that was riveted on to a brass back plate. This time consuming laborious process became popular during the early part of the 19th century and continued into the early 20th.
