This antique Scottish agate brooch in the form of a leaf, is circa 1850. It represents one of the finest pins I have sold in many years. Replicating a leaf in autumn, with changing colors, each agate is hand chosen for color, cut, polished, placed on slate and then framed in sterling. A departure from the most traditional forms seen in Scottish jewelry, this stone work could take a skilled lapidary days to complete.

Unique and subtle beauty is the best way to describe this brooch. It is Scottish, circa 1850 and is the only one of this form I have had the privilege of selling. It is an example of the finest skills of a lapidary, as it replicates the movement of braiding, rendered by hand and limited only by imagination. How incredible to achieve this from stone. It has the traditional colors of Scottish jewelry, bloodstone, jasper and Montrose gray, all of which are indigenous to Scotland. ...click for details

Perhaps one of the most coveted item of Georgian jewelry is the reviere. This reviere has flat cut, foil back almandine garnets all set in hand crimped collets. The color of the garnet is rich, and ruby like, having the glorious variation of hue created by the foil beneath each stone. The purpose of foil was to bring light to the stone and enhance color, as the stones were characteristically closed in the back.

This Scottish 9k gold pendant/brooch is circa 1850. The passion for Scottish jewelry was heightened by Queen Victoria's love of Scotland and its tradition. While spending time at her beloved Balmoral Castle, she dressed wore the Scottish jewelry and dressed her children in tartans.

This classical moonstone necklace is circa 1890. It has seven flowers designed with claw set cabachon moonstones alternating with similarly set single moonstones. The moonstones are clear and have the desirable flashes of blue. Not to be confused with the rainbow moonstones in modern jewelry, these early mined stones are quite rare to find today as most of the mines have been virtually depleted.

This is a superb example of a Victorian silver cuff bangle bracelet, circa 1880. This motif of a strap and buckle was very popular during this period and was found on brooches, lockets, earrings as well as on bracelets.
