This Victorian bracelet is quite rare in form. Designed as a realistic cuff replete with buttons, it is rendered in sterling. The bracelet has fine engraving executed with unusual restraint. It embodies all the elements of superior design, and has a decidedly sculptural quality.

Large and lovely, these antique English amethyst paste earrings are circa 1850. They are faceted pastes, foiled back and set in silver rub over collets. Originally silver cuff buttons, they have been beautifully transformed into earrings with the addition of 14k yellow gold ear wires. They are quite dramatic with bulbous backs measuring 1/2 inches or 1.25 cm in diameter. They are 7/8 inches from the top of the wire.

This unusual Victorian silver bangle bracelet is circa 1880. The buckle motif was very popular during this period and this example is detailed and bold. The distinguishing feature is not only the buckle, but the "rippling" design of the strap. The hand engraving is well done and the bracelet opens with a concealed, secure push clasp. The reverse is unadorned as was typically done in Victorian bangles. It measures approximately, 7 1/2 inches around x 1 1/8 inches wide and would comfort ...click for details

This antique Victorian Scottish bracelet is circa 1860. My love of Scottish jewelry is evident. Perhaps it is because the value is in the design and craftsmanship, rather than in the materials. Here is one of the finest examples of this art form. It has a large, bold central element designed as a flower head, centered with a faceted amethyst. The colors of the agates are in total contrast with the amethyst, making it quite striking. The agates themselves have the full range of color indigenous t ...click for details

This cuff bracelet is English, circa 1880. It is more unusual than most, having fine pierced work creating vines, leaves and flowers. The use of multi- colored gold used with silver, became popular when the art of Japan was widely introduced in Europe. Commodore Perry credited with bringing about a trade agreement with Japan also opened the world to Japanese art and culture. In this example the pierced silver work is superb as is the hand engraving. The open work adds not only light, but looks ...click for details

This unusual sterling bangle bracelet is designed with a star motif. Three bold stars studded with tiny round circles that are faceted, surround the front of the bracelet. The top and bottom also have a border that echoes the central motif of stars. It also has a lovely twisted rope edge border framing the tiny stars. The back surface is unadorned which is typical of bracelets from this period. It opens and closes securely with a concealed push clasp. The bracelet has hallmarks for Birmingham an ...click for details

This antique sterling locket is English, circa 1880. The Aesthetic Movement is evident in this lovely locket with its multi- colors and naturalistic theme. This movement was born with the trade agreement made between the United States and Japan. Japanese art found a new market and silversmiths in England eagerly designed jewelry for the populace that desired this new look. This locket is typical of the fashion, finely detailed with vines and a flower motif. The leaves are finished in a yellow go ...click for details

This very fine antique Scottish brooch captures the beauty of Autumn. A medley of colored agates all indigenous to Scotland, have been finely cut and inlaid in silver by a skilled lapidary. The artistry clearly seen in the choice of color and placement of the stones. So finely rendered, a finger running over the top can barely detect one stone from the next, as it is so smooth to the touch.

The vast majority of a ...click for details

Uniquely beautiful, this English sterling locket and collar is circa 1870. It is sterling, and is designed to be worn in multiple ways. One side is finely hand engraved and can be worn with or without the locket, and with or without the extension. The same is true of the sleekly designed reverse side. Worn with the locket or without, it is refined and elegant. The proportions and the incredible condition make this a standout from almost all I have seen. The collar measures a substantial 18.5 inch ...click for details

This unusual and rare Scottish agate brooch is circa 1880. It is the first and only that I have seen with this inscription. The brooch appears at first to be a mosaic of inlaid stones, but then the letters become clear and the word Clachnacuddin appears. It is created in several time intensive steps, first the silversmith, then the engraver and finally the lapidary.

The name is the anglicised version of the Clachna ...click for details
