This Scottish silver, agate bracelet is circa 1860. It was designed with beautifully chosen agates, indigenous to Scotland that were cut, beveled and then skillfully placed on an agate back plate. Bracelets of this form frequently had agates placed on slate, but here is a more unusual form. The agates were drilled, and sterling pins then attached each section to a silver support on the reverse. The lapidary wanted attention drawn to the beauty of the agates, chosen for their color, not to any s ...click for details
