This very traditional, antique Scottish agate brooch is circa 1880. It has bloodstone and jasper agates set in 9k gold that has been finely hand engraved. Each of the four corners of the central section are decorated with a fleur de lys, symbolic of the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland in 1295. These gold garnet earrings are Georgian, circa 1800. Designed in the round, they have beautiful almandine garnets, cut flat and finely faceted at the edges. The stones are foil back to reflect light as they are closed at the back, typical of the period. The result is a rich, ruby red color of varying hues so lovely and unique to early jewelry.
