This is a 9k gold Scottish pin circa 1880. It has inlaid bloodstone and jasper agates, and very detailed, beautiful engraving work. The jasper was first cut in sections and then inlaid into the gold. The bloodstone was cut and shaped by a lapidary into a pyramid type formation. This is very difficult, time consuming work that requires a skilled craftsman. The central stone is a cairngorm, mined in the Cairngorm mountain range in Scotland. The brooch has three sections that were individually de ...click for details

This snake brooch is circa 1890 and is crafted in 18k gold and sterling. There are touchmarks for both silver and gold a, as well as a maker's mark. It is interesting to note that this pin has a sterling front and an 18k back. The maker evidently believed that the use of silver in the front, created a more realistic rendering. It has substantial weight of 12 dwt. and is all original. The clasp is extremely secure and the condition excellent. It measures 1 7/8th inches across x 1 1/4 inches ...click for details

It has a central bouquet of natural pearls and faceted crystals which form the thistle flowers. There are faceted citrines and amethysts which circle the flowers. Tiny floral rosettes made of gold alternate between the stones. The edge of the brooch is scalloped. The gold detailing is of the very finest level. It is beautiful in conception and brilliant in executio ...click for details

This is a handmade pin, circa 1940 attributed to John Rubell. It is unique in form, and was made during the war years. John Rubell was renowned for mechanical pins such as this. Some of his pins were signed, many were not. This is not signed, but has the fine craftmanship of his work. The wheels move and the gold is in two colors. The faces and the center of the wheels are rubies. The back has a safety and the double clip which was popular during this period. The pin measures 2 inches across X ...click for details
