This antique Japanese shakudo chain is circa 1880. The Samurai warriors wore beautiful swords and fittings designed with the metal art of Shakudo. The name defines the art of utilizing mixed metals to create an art form. The use of copper with gold, silver and metal alloys was perfected by the metal workers who decorated the Samurai swords. This bracelet is Victorian, circa 1880. It is designed with ivory sections, beautifully graduated, drilled and attached with elastic cording. The central plaque has a finely rendered cameo of a woman, well coiffed and wearing a long earring. The composition has perfect proportions and the bracelet is in excellent condition.
