This rare Scottish brooch is circa 1860. As a collector it is increasingly difficult to find unusual and rare forms, but this is true to the description. It is so rare, that I have had only three similar forms of this design in over 20 years. The design is created by agates that are raised and faceted, alternating with inlaid agates resulting in an illusion of pleating . The agates are centered by a natural cairngorm set in a simple claw mounting and are accented by small silver cannonballs. The ...click for details

Beautiful Georgian gold Maltese Cross, circa 1820. I have just returned from a buying trip to the UK and am pleased to offer this for sale. It has four translucent chalcedony sections accented with fine gold cannetille work. This very time intensive process requires a skilled hand as spirals of gold are twisted and connected to create the rosettes and leaves. The central section has a faceted ruby set in a crimped cut down collet and surrounded by natural pearls. There are three colors of gold a ...click for details

This 12k gold Scottish agate pin circa 1880, is from my personal collection. It is considered a figural,a ribbon, separating it from the other traditional, more common forms. Most of the brooches from this period used to secure the tartans and had very similar configurations. Brooches designed specifically in feminine forms were few, and fewer still were rendered in gold. The colors are well chosen and subtle with soft shades blending one into the other. The sections are separated by gold that ...click for details

This Victorian, Scottish agate brooch is circa 1880. Bold in design and finely executed, it represents a lovely example of antique Celtic jewelry. The buckle motif was quite popular during this period and appeared in bracelets, earrings and brooches. The engraving is finely detailed and superior in design.

The pin is large, measuring 2 inches long x 1 3/4 across. It is completely original, including c-clasp and ...click for details

These beautiful pale rose gold earrings are circa 1840. They are bold in appearance, but actually hollow in construction and light on the ear. The gold repousse work is refined, and the form architectural and sleek. The earrings are completely original including the top loops which are large, and very dramatic. They open and close with a hinge mechanism as seen in the photo.

They measure a wearable 2 1/2 inche ...click for details

These beautiful, natural rich salmon color coral earrings are circa 1880. They are classically inspired with finely carved heads of Bacchus. In Greek and Roman mythology Bacchus represents the god of wine and revelry.

The earrings are a perfect size to wear day or evening, measuring 1 1/8 from the top of the gold wire x 3/8 across. The reverse indicates original mounts and wires. The carvings of the face, grapes ...click for details

This brooch is Scottish, circa 1840. It is silver, and set with a beautiful blend of native agates. It is designed as a penannular, or "broken ring." This is an early design of a brooch with exquisite engraving, front and back. The top stone is a cairngorm which is faceted and foil back. The cabachon stones are crystals which have been foiled and the result is beautiful rose tones in varying hues. The use of foil dates centuries when the need to reflect light was addressed in stones th ...click for details

This rare antique Scottish gold brooch is circa 1880. I use the word rare, only when it is applicable. The allure of Scottish jewelry reached a new height when Queen Victoria visited her beloved Balmoral castle. She personally wore Scottish jewelry and would dressed her children in tartans. The industry grew proportionate to the enthusiasm of the populace.

Most Scottish jewelry is rendered in silver and few wer ...click for details

This rare offering is a gold Scottish dirk, circa 1880. My passion for early Scottish jewelry has its roots in the beauty that was created not with diamonds or precious stones, but with artistry, creativity and tradition. Truly, it is a form of folk art. This beautiful brooch, in the form of a dirk, would have secured the kilts. Today they are used to adorn coats, capes, hats and sweaters.

This particular dirk is ...click for details
