These very dramatic earrings are French, circa 1890. The are designed with faceted rock crystals all set in silver, beautifully detailed prong set mounts. They terminate in silver torpedo shaped drops. The earrings measure 1 3/4 inches long from the top of the wire x 3/4 inches across. The clear, bright crystals are open back and reflect light from every angle. The ear wires have French touchmarks. There is one tiny ding on the back of one silver drop seen in the photos. This 15k gold locket is English circa 1840. It is beautifully designed as a book, or portfolio which opens to reveal a locket. The original glass is curved and is fitted with a removable bezel. Both the engraving and the design are distinctive. The sides and back are engraved and even the "pages" of the book are realistically engraved as seen in the photos. The chain is original to the locket and has a beautifully engraved clasp. The chain and locket have substantial weight. The chain ...click for details

This 18k French ring is circa 1840. This folk ring is from the region of Auvergne, in the center of France. It is more unusual finding a ring from this region, as pendants were more plentiful. This beautiful example is designed with stones that are all foil back to reflect light, and then set in hand crimped cut down mounts. The foiling was used to enhance the light, since the stones were set in closed back settings. The work is finely executed, and the color combination very mellow. The ring is ...click for details

This brooch is Scottish, circa 1860. It is wonderful figural interpretation of a bow crafted by a true artisan. Most 19th century Scottish brooches have traditional designs, and few were creatively expressive. Antique Scottish brooches are becoming scarce, but finding a figural brooch such as this is rare indeed. All the agates were cut and shaped like a true ribbon. The photo does not capture the finesse of the lapidary nor the beauty of the choice of agates. Notice the blend of color and the m ...click for details

This French enamel necklace is circa 1900. The design is wonderful, and the color play dramatic and elegant. The necklace is vermeil, a term used to describe silver with a gold wash. The silver work is finely executed with exceptionally fine spiral wire work. Even the bezels surrounding the cabachon turquoise stones are detailed. The back is well done as expected of French craftsmanship, and there is even evidence of white enamel on the back of each white flower. The drops which articulate add ...click for details

This brooch is Georgian, circa 1810. It has rich, dark faceted amethysts that are foiled back and set in an alternating pattern. The amethysts are all set in crimped, cut down mounts and are closed back. Central to the brooch is a translucent moss picture agate, which is set in a crimped gold bezel. It is surrounded by beautifully matched natural pearls. The combination of the green, purple and white is very beautiful. The reverse has minor dings commensurate with the age of the brooch. This Victorian,Scottish agate brooch is circa 1860. It is designed as a basket weave crated by two colors of agate. The affect is quite beautiful and most unusual. The central agate is actually a striated agate, almost the color of straw. This was a carefully planned and beautifully executed design by a skilled lapidary. The agates are placed on slate backs and then a simple sterling bezel was created. The choice was simplicity of silver work with emphasis on the stones and this was certainly ac ...click for details

This is one of the rarest forms of Scottish loveknot brooches. It is sterling, circa 1860, and is reminiscent of American wedding quilts. It is the interlocking symbolic rings of love where there is "no beginning or end." In this example the most beautiful choice of agates are perfectly chosen and cut for a soft visual affect. It measures 2 inches round, is all original and in excellent condition. This is the second brooch of this design I have seen. The other is in our personal collec ...click for details

This wonderful 15k crystal heart locket is English, circa 1880. It is designed with beautifully shaped cabachon crystals in bezels of finely worked gold. The locket opens from the bottom with a tiny knob of gold and closes securely. It can accommodate a photo or lock of hair, but I personally believe it looks elegant worn as seen in the photos. The locket size is larger than most from this period and rarer to find, measuring 1.5 down x 1 1/4 across. It has been joined with a 14k chain, circa 188 ...click for details
