This incredibly lovely 18k ring is late Georgian, circa 1830. The design is superior, with closed foil back rubies, interspersed with faceted pale aqua stones. The aqua stones are in mellow contrast to the rubies creating a beautiful play of color. The ring has delicately arched, finely engraved shoulders, joining a shank which is fully engraved as well. The ring is all original with no repair, has a rich patina, and is a size 6 3/4 USA. The condition is excellent, the beauty evident.

Georgian brooches are timeless in simplicity and elegance. This brooch is circa 1820 and has a flat cut garnet surround with each garnet set in crimped 9k gold and foil back settings. The foiling behind the garnets was used to enhance the color since stones were often closed to the light during this period of design. It gives the garnets a beautiful pinkish purple hue similar to a ruby. The center is a beautiful moss agate with beveled edges. The interplay of color is very beautiful and the cond ...click for details

These are quite spectacular. They are 18k Georgian, circa 1820 and designed in the pendaloque, or teardrop shape. The work is superb from the finely textured matte gold to the polished repousse. Naturalistic themes were popular during this period, and is evident here in the use of flowers and acanthus leaves.

They are designed in three articulating sections, and are beautifully proportioned to move gracefully wit ...click for details

Finding antique Scottish jewelry that is authentic and in good condition is always a challenge. Most Scottish jewelry is found in the form of brooches, necklaces and earrings, and the vast majority in silver.

This is a 12k gold Scottish agate necklace, circa 1860. It is from my personal collection and is in excellent condition. It measures 16.5 inches and the padlock measures 1 inch x 1/2 inch. The padlock opens a ...click for details

This 15k brooch is English, circa 1850. These brooches are rare to find in silver, and even rarer in gold. It has rock crystals that are foiled to create the colors of amethyst, citrine and garnet. The body is entirely hand made and beautifully detailed. The beetle illuminates as light passes through the crystals and is dramatic when worn on the shoulder or lapel. It measures 1 3/4 long x 1 1/4 across. The reverse has all original mounts. The gold has a rich patina and is in excellent condition. ...click for details

This coral necklace is Victorian. The three strands of natural coral have small oval beads that have faceted crystals in the center. The circa 1830 clasp is lovely as well, and has perfectly matched natural split pearls surrounding a compartment housing finely braided hair. The clasp is so finely designed it would look great with the clasp worn on the side, rather than in the back of the neck. The necklace measures 16.5 inches as the shortest length. The coral is a beautiful salmon color and ...click for details

This pendant is French, circa 1790. It is a dramatic design of flowerheads and branches ending with three articulating drops. The beautiful Strass glass stones are all hand set in silver crimped mounts. The term Strass is used to describe the leaded glass used to make these stones. Georges Frederic Strass was an 18th century Parisian jeweler who gained fame with his paste jewels. Early paste was never designed to mimic the real jewels, but was heralded as an exciting innovation. Early paste jewe ...click for details

These are singularly the finest paste earrings I have had the pleasure to sell. They are Georgian, circa 1800 and are silver topped gold. The stones are black dot paste which was often used in the finest Georgian jewelry. Paste which is glass with a high lead content, was worn by both the royalty and aristocracy. Although they looked like diamonds and were set with the same precision as the finer stones, paste was not intended to "mimic" or fool. Paste was worn and appreciated for its ...click for details
