This is one of my favorite forms of antique jewelry since it is strikingly modern in design yet over 140 years old. It is called a penannular, or broken ring, and is in sterling set with with beautiful agates. The circle of agates move and allows the pin to be brought through the opening and be secured to the garment. The agates are a beautiful mellow combination of color and are completely original. The top thistle is a carved amethyst and the other stones are crystals which are foiled back and ...click for details

This wonderful French gold brooch is 19th century. It is a painting on ivory en grisaille. The French word for gray is gris, and the definition translates to a monochromatic painting in shades of gray.

Quite spectacular, this pin is subtle in color accented with the clearest of paste stones. Each paste in the surround is set in a fine gold prong setting. The ivory is in perfect condition as is the the glass. The ...click for details

This lovely ring is Georgian, circa 1800. It is silver topped rose gold, typical of the period. Diamonds were set in silver more pleasing in appearance and backed in gold so no tarnish would be a problem in contact with the skin or clothing. There are thirteen diamonds, twelve are flat cut and the central diamond a rose cut. All are set in crimped rub-over settings with tiny dots of silver giving additional distinctive texture. It is more unusual to find the stones open to the light during this ...click for details

This gold necklace is circa 1900, and has well matched, gem quality cabachon stones. The gold content varies between 9k-12k gold. The design which is quite feminine, was very popular at the turn of the century.
