This is a 19th century shakudo bracelet. Shakudo, the term used to describe the metal alloy of copper and gold which forms the base of this art form. This metal work is centuries old and was used by highly skilled artisans who decorated the Japanese swords. When the Samurai era ended in the late 19th century these men were now unemployed and made jewelry to support themselves. The jewelry attracted the foreign markets as well. Here we have a bracelet, originally designed as a bracelet. Most brac ...click for details

This beautiful Scottish agate bracelet is circa 1860. My passion for Scottish jewelry is typified by this item. Here is a bracelet that is over 150 years old having a design with a 2007 sensibility. Individually hand cut stones were shaped and placed harmoniously to join with the colors of each section. There are five sections, with each having four stones that fit together like a fine puzzle. The photos of the reverse show the agates placed on slate and the central element has the stones place ...click for details

This Scottish gold citrine heart is circa 1860. The heart is surmounted by a crown signifying loyalty. It has two natural pearls, and a central faceted emerald as well fleur de lys decoration. The incorporation of this motif is evidence of the Auld Alliance of 1295 between France and Scotland. Mary Queen of Scots grew up in France and was Queen of France at the tender age of 17. She became Queen of Scotland after sustaining great personal loss and the years that followed were tragic. She wa ...click for details

Antique silver, opal and peridot ring, circa 1900. The style is very much in keeping with the Arts and Crafts Movement with double twisted silver wire shank and peridots accented by small silver balls between each stone. The reverse shows the pierced back which creates an interesting effect when seen from the front. The color combination is beautiful and the opal colors, subtle with flashes of green and rose. There are surface scratches to the opal visible under magnification. The peridots ar ...click for details
