The colors meld so perfectly that the eye catches the subtle play of color uninterrupted by any adornments. It is a rarity in antique Scottish jewelry to find it in gold,especially 15k. This brooch,called a dirk, is designed as a replica of the weapon. This very traditional, antique Scottish agate brooch is circa 1880. It has bloodstone and jasper agates set in 9k gold that has been finely hand engraved. Each of the four corners of the central section are decorated with a fleur de lys, symbolic of the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland in 1295. French Art Nouveau sterling moonstone ring, circa 1900. I will begin by saying that the quality of this stone is exceptional and certainly gem quality. It has a large cabachon cut which gives the moonstone its magical adularescence, or sheen. It is large, measuring 3/4 inches long x 5/8 across and has a distinctive teardrop shape. These gold garnet earrings are Georgian, circa 1800. Designed in the round, they have beautiful almandine garnets, cut flat and finely faceted at the edges. The stones are foil back to reflect light as they are closed at the back, typical of the period. The result is a rich, ruby red color of varying hues so lovely and unique to early jewelry.
