This antique Victorian Scottish bracelet is circa 1860. My love of Scottish jewelry is evident. Perhaps it is because the value is in the design and craftsmanship, rather than in the materials. Here is one of the finest examples of this art form. It has a large, bold central element designed as a flower head, centered with a faceted amethyst. The colors of the agates are in total contrast with the amethyst, making it quite striking. The agates themselves have the full range of color indigenous t ...click for details

This cuff bracelet is English, circa 1880. It is more unusual than most, having fine pierced work creating vines, leaves and flowers. The use of multi- colored gold used with silver, became popular when the art of Japan was widely introduced in Europe. Commodore Perry credited with bringing about a trade agreement with Japan also opened the world to Japanese art and culture. In this example the pierced silver work is superb as is the hand engraving. The open work adds not only light, but looks ...click for details

I rarely get this form of earring in inventory, but just in from Paris, are these spectacular paste earrings. This very desirable form is a solitaire with a tiny paste accent stone on the top. Each paste is set in silver, hand crimped collets just as the diamonds were set in this period. They are 19th century back to front gold fittings that are a very pale rose gold.
The earrings measure 3/4 inches long x slightly less than 1/2 inches wide. The large stones are a cushion shaped rose cut. The ...click for details

Simply beautiful, these earrings are Georgian, circa 1820. The stones are faceted citrines set in crimped gold collets of 15k. The citrines, set a jour(open to the light) are ablaze with color as the light passes through the stone with every movement. They are set in the classical three sections, with each articulating.
The earrings are long and dramatic, measuring 2 1/8 inches long x 1/2 inch across the widest span. The condition is superb. The original back to front ear wires have been replac ...click for details

This antique Japanese shakudo chain is circa 1880. The Samurai warriors wore beautiful swords and fittings designed with the metal art of Shakudo. The name defines the art of utilizing mixed metals to create an art form. The use of copper with gold, silver and metal alloys was perfected by the metal workers who decorated the Samurai swords. In 1876 the Emperor Meiji declared a law abolishing the wearing of swords. This ended the approximately 1000 year proud , powerful history of the Samurai. Al ...click for details

These earrings are simply wonderful. Originally Georgian cuff buttons, they have been converted to earrings with the addition of gold wires. The smoky quartz are large, beautifully faceted and set in hand crimped gold settings. The stones are foil backed creating the rich hue of topaz. The color has hints of brown and warm golden tones. Foiling during this period, was used to enhance the color of the stone as they were characteristically set with closed backs. The gold work is well done and the b ...click for details
