Wonderful, antique French 18 karat gold earrings, circa 1890. They are designed with a small faceted paste below which is a large, bright faceted stone open to the light, approximating a 2 plus carat diamond.

The gold work, and the fleur de lis, distinguishes this pair, as it is very finely rendered. They are beautiful from every angle and are 18 karat and 800 silver...

These antique diamond, gold earrings are French, circa 1890. They are called dormeuse, or sleeper earrings, as the size made them comfortable enough to wear to sleep. At the turn of the 19th century, every well dressed, fashion conscious woman, could be seen wearing these while walking the streets of Paris...

This antique long silver guard chain is from the Arts and Crafts Movement. It is Continental, 800 silver, and has a maker's mark. This movement of design favored anti-industrial, simple forms. This Jugenstil style muff chain is reminiscent of the work of Murrle Bennett, Archibold Knox and Charles Horner. Although the movement swept the years of 1860-1910, most jewelry was produced during the period of 1890-1910...

Simply wonderful, these Scottish agate sterling silver earrings are circa 1860. The design is classical, and often found in the traditional brooches. However, finding this motif in earrings is a rare delight. Each earring articulates, and has a central cairngorm surrounded by paste foil back stones set in silver bezels...

This is one of the finest examples of Scottish agate jewelry I have had the pleasure to offer for sale. It was designed and executed by a highly skilled lapidary. Utilizing rarely found, Montrose striated gray agates, the lapidary created a braid with an illusion of movement and dimension.

The brooch measures 3 inches across X 1 5/8 inches down. This work of art is in excellent condition...

The quality of this antique Montrose grey bracelet is evident to the eyes as well as to the touch. It is a sculpture, finely rendered by a lapidary with a master's hands. Each piece of agate is shaped and placed one to the other on to a base of granite. Each end of the six plaques is capped in hand engraved sterling silver mounts. It is fastened with the original heart shaped padlock.

The bracelet measures 7 3/4 inches long X 7/8 across...

I have received so many requests for these, and finally can offer a stellar pair of clear Georgian paste earrings. They are bright, white and reflective. The pastes are faceted in a rarer step cut and are foil back. They have the tiny black dot in the center of each stone used to simulate the culet of a diamond present in the finer Georgian paste jewelry...

Exceptionally beautiful, long sinuous gemstone earrings, circa 1890. These were purchased in Vienna and are quite exceptional. They are rendered in 14k gold and are mirror images designed with a naturalistic theme of tendrils of leaves and flowers set upon a vine of ribbon. The flowers, centered with a natural pearl are surrounded by flat cut rubies. Emeralds are used as accents in this artistic, beautifully hand made pair of earrings...

The pictures hardly translate the scale of these 18k French crystal earrings. They were purchased in Paris and designed with substantial 18k gold mounts with a beautiful pierced gallery. They rival the best of this type of earring I have offered. The faceted bright white, bottom crystals are over 4 carats in size and the top stone approximately 30 pts. They are striking and reflect light with every movement...

This rare Renaissance Revival bracelet is French, circa 1880. Purchased in Paris during a recent buying trip, it is a joy to offer for sale as I have only had one other in 35 years.

Jewelers have always looked to the past for inspiration, and the root of this movement was the renaissance Period with its mythological chimera, dragons, gargoyles and cherubs. The griffin, a mythological creature with the yea and wings of a beast and the chimera with the head of a lion , body of a goat and the...

This fantastic 14k locket is quite extraordinary. It is designed with four colors of gold and has fine chasing, engraving and stippling. The artistry is superb, but the design is what sets this apart from others. It is two sided with one side depicting the fable , The Fox and the Crane , and the other side , The Crow and the Pitcher. I have never seen a locket with this detail or design and it may very well have been a special commission, and given as a gift from a parent to a child. The interio...

This French chain is silver and the design is niello. Niello is a process of fusing sulphur, copper, lead and silver. The fused metals are then poured onto the incised silver, The patterns created are both distinctive and beautiful. The contrast with rose gold vermeil links is the perfect foil.

This chain once a watch chain, is now a necklace. The niello spring ring is joined with the niello dog clip and voila, a perfect transformation. The chain measures 17 inches long X 1/4 inches wide. Both...

This antique Japanese shakudo pendant is circa 1880. Shakudo is the use of mixed metals to create a form of art. The use of copper, gold, silver and metal alloys was perfected by the metal workers who decorated the Samurai swords. In 1876 the Emperor Meiji declared a law abolishing the use of swords, which virtually ended the approximately 1000 year, proud, powerful history of the Samurai. The shakudo artisans were now trying to survive economically, and created pieces of jewelry from the disman...
